School is in full force and schedules are busy. The first day of school was definitely a memorable one, as the total solar eclipse occurred around 1:00 P.M. Samantha is a junior; Blake a freshman; and Connor a 6th grader. Our kids are growing up...Blake is enjoying the freedom of driving that his school permit allows and being a part of the high school football team. Samantha is submerged in classes that she prefers, for the most part, and enjoying volleyball. Connor is loving middle school, which makes me happy! I am still teaching 5th grade and fortunate to have my teaching partner, Jenna, back in full swing after her health scare last Spring. Phil might not be in school, but he definitely helps the rest of us and feels the effects of school, as well! The house is still slowly coming together. Phil has hung some trim and base board. He also hung the original front door of the house. It is now our pantry door in the kitchen. He was able to hang the original doors on the closet under the staircase. Samantha had previously painted them to match our trim and doors. I love the character they add to the home. The carpet layer came back and laid the carpet on the staircase leading to the basement. Phil has spent time leveling our front yard, in preparation for installing underground sprinklers, followed by planting grass. He threw his back out this past Monday morning, so is trying to recuperate from that. This means progress around here is at a stand still. This past weekend (Labor Day weekend) I enjoyed getting to pull out my Fall decor and finding places in our "new" home for them. Definitely makes it feel more like home. Our immediate goals: Get front lawn sprinklers installed and grass seed planted; Finish trim and doors; and polyurethane the upstairs hallway so the carpet layer can lay carpet on the open staircase.
