May 21, 2017 we were able to move into our mostly finished home! This was made possible with the help of the following people that day: Russ & Amanda Kohmetscher, Roger & Neely Kohmetscher, Luke Norquest, Dustin, Janelle, Zac, & Keaton Corman, Ron & Carolyn Janda, Wayne & Linda Kohmetscher, and Grandma Himmelberg. We are extremely thankful for their help! That afternoon I received one of the worst phone calls in my life, which resulted in Phil and I leaving with our moving crew finishing for us. My best friend, Jenna, had collapsed at her daughter's 1st birthday party and been life flighted to Lincoln. She was the one who listened to me throughout this whole process of remodeling the house, and was probably just as excited as me for us to get moved because that's the type of person she is. Always worried about others, and happy for their accomplishments. Jenna had offered to come the following Tuesday to help me unpack. Jenna's survival of this nasty virus that attacked her heart is a true MIRACLE! She told me last night she's ready to be home and then she's coming to visit. I can't wait for that day! As for the house...it is not finished, but maintaining two homes 30 miles apart was a lot of work. We felt like we could get more done on our home, if we were actually living there. At this point, the house is very functional. Here is what remains to be done: Finish bamboo flooring in the hallway to our bedroom and in the two front rooms. Stain the open staircase. Stain/clear coat the upstairs hallway wood floor. Have carpet put down on 2 staircases and the living room. (We currently have a canvas drop cloth for an eye-catching "rug"!!) Finish painting the windows upstairs and in Samantha's bedroom. Lay floor in Samantha's bathroom. All trim work needs painted and hung. We don't even have this yet. Hang interior doors. I was able to transplant a few more plants from our Clay Center home. It has been fun to see my plants thriving at our new home. Eventually, they will need transplanted again to where I actually want them in our yard. Once we get things closer to done on the inside of the house, we will be working hard to shape up the yard. Phil and I both enjoy these kinds of outdoor projects, but we have to prioritize right now. Easter photo at the farm. Easter egg dyeing at our rental home in CC.
