It's been MONTHS since we've had a working toilet in our home. Well, today is kind of a big deal, because Phil installed one of our toilets!! Yep, doesn't take much to get me excited, but you have no idea! It's going to be so nice to not have to use the wilderness or drive to one of our parents' homes! Haha...they are probably thinking the same thing! :) As for other progress, Phil has the upstairs hallway ready for me to wipe down the walls and then paint. Last weekend, Samantha and I painted the front doors. I wanted color for the front door, and I really like how my yellow looks! Speaking of last weekend, a storm came up while I had run to my parents' in town to pick up the kids. Phil was at his parents' changing the oil in my Ford. In town, the storm brought pea-sized hail. 5 miles away, at Phil's parents', they had golfball-sized hail...crazy weather! As for the rest of the progress...the vanities and their sinks/tops are installed in the master bath and the boys' bath. Phil finished installing the flooring in the boys' bathroom. I picked out carpet this week in Sutton and Phil contacted a local carpet layer (Todd Boman). He came over one night to measure, so now we just need to get it ordered! I talked to Brent about helping to stain the staircase. Thankfully, he agreed to take the top piece of one of the posts that isn't secured, and is going to try out some stain on the bottom side of it. I am hoping to match the kitchen cabinets that he made for us, and figure if anyone can do this, he can! Phil ordered our interior doors this week, and spent this afternoon trying to make room for them in our garage. I painted 2 coats of paint on 10 more floor boards; they need 1 more coat. Our gutters were installed on the house this week by a man from Ohiowa, NE. Phil's next goal is to finish mudding and sanding Samantha's bedroom. By the sounds of it, that could be done this week! 4/9/17 Hail. Photo on the right has partially melted hail 4/6/17 Photos

Another month has gone by. Spring has arrived, and my plants I transplanted from our Clay Center home this Fall, are sprouting! I don't feel like a lot of progress has been made with our house, but there has been some. Here's a rundown of where we're at now. Connor's bedroom and the boys' bathroom are painted upstairs. Blake's bedroom has been primed and the ceiling is painted. All it needs is the color on the walls now. Today, Phil worked on sanding the hallway upstairs. He has a few final touchups, and then it will be ready to be painted. On the main floor, Phil has installed the flooring in the master bath. We have the toilets for our bathrooms, but none are installed yet. All the bathroom vanities and tops are made, but only the master bath vanity has been installed. We have our kitchen and bathroom faucets, but they are not yet installed, either. I was able to finish stripping the staircase and upstairs hallway floor. It looks really neat! Phil did some sanding on it, as well. We ran into a problem with stripping when we discovered that the stairs appear to have carpet glue on them. It just does not want to come off. Luckily, the plan from the beginning has been to carpet the stairs. Phil has worked on installing underlayment on the main floor to better tie in the old house and the addition. He has also put down some of the flooring in the kitchen/dining area. My mom nudged me to start painting my floor board, so that has started also. As May is right around the corner, I am getting anxious to move into our home, but the "to-do" list is still overwhelming!
